Philanthropy

Service is a very important part of being an Alpha Phi.  Alpha Phi's philanthropy is the Alpha Phi Foundation, raising money and awareness for cardiac care and cardiac research.  We also work in conjunction with the American Heart Association for annual events like the Indianapolis Heart Walk and "Broad Ripple Goes Red," as well as promoting the "Red Dress" Campaign.

Each semester, Alpha Phi holds a campus wide event supporting our philanthropy.  In the fall, on September 19th, is Bounce for Beats, a 36 hour bounce-a-thon where members from our chapter and from campus bounce on a large trampoline for 36 hours.  On the 19th, we will be holding an all campus event including a cookout, a King of Hearts contest between men from the fraternities and a lip sync/choreographed dance competition and trampoline act between men from the fraternities.

In the spring, we hold another all campus event, Phiesta, a campus-wide soccer tournament on Schwitzer lawn between co-ed teams made up of all the residence halls, sororities, and fraternities.

A Mexican style dinner is also served at our chapter house the night of the event.  Paired with both events is a week of service leading up to the events during which Alpha Phis and anyone who wants to participate go out into the community to different service sites each day.

In addition to our large philanthropic events, Alpha Phis regularly volunteer at a variety of places in Indianapolis.  To name a few, Alpha Phis volunteer with College Mentors for Kids, Best Buddies, Big Brother Big Sister, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Global Gifts, Rebuilding the Wall, Fall and Spring Alternative Breaks, Riley Childrens' Hospital, and Kaleidoscope Youth Center.
